"Fig Tree Bay"

Protaras

Fig Tree Bay is just a small segment of the entire stretch of Protaras beach which extends from DeCosta Bay to Kapparis.

Since the demise of the more popular resort of Famagusta in 1974 due to the illegal Turkish invasion, the town of Protaras has benefited, and flourished into the now popular family holiday destination.

Increasingly popular with tourists and natives alike is the lovely Fig Tree Bay, with it's sparkling crystal clear waters enclosed by a small island which you can swim out to. During the peak season the beach gets crowded, and an early start to book your sunlounger is recommended. However the facilities on the beach are second to none, with two water sports facilities (Stavros Watersports & Zefkas watersports) , and a clutch of bars and restaurants providing necessary refreshments!

Since 1953 when the original two bars were constructed (Zefkas & Landos restaurants), the area has been built up quite intensively especially over the last 30 years and has become a bustling town especially at night, when the many bars and restaurants along "The Strip" become busy with music and conversation.
